Confederations Cup Final,Brazil Is Brazil !!

Did you ever think that the USA would play in the final of the confederations cup? or did you think they would beat Egypt or that they would drop Spain by two unreplied goals or did you think they would lead Brazil by two goals by half-time? If i have to answer any of the questions above, my answer would be a resounding no.
But the Americans have done very well in this confederations cup, beating Egypt and then thrashing Spain. They started quite well against the Brazilians and led by two goals at half-time, but then we all know Brazilians and what they can do. They fought back and won the game by 3 goals to 2.
Quite bitter for me to swallow is the fact that a little bit of hope for a change at the pecking order in world football. Would it not be nice for a lesser know footballing nation to win a major football tournament? I really feel for the Americans because they played very well in the first half, but really capitulated in the second.
Well, i have enjoyed every bit of the tournament and as it comes to an end, let's stay with memory of a fine display by South Africa, Egypt, USA and of course Spain's disappointing display.
Talking of Spain, they were really a shadow of the team that won the last European championships.
So what do you think, are we going to see a major upset at next year's world cup? Your views.

Late strike fires Brazil into final

An 87th-minute free-kick from defender Daniel Alves sends Brazil into the Confederations Cup final and leaves hosts South Africa heartbroken. But in all fairness, the South Africans took the game to the Brazilians, their work rate was first class and the really did not deserve to lose the game.
But i did say in the earlier post that the Africans would play very well, but their attack was blunt in their earlier matches. They really impress me today with the way they played. But boy, football could be cruel sometimes.

USA Stun Spain!

If the title to my last post was incredible, then this one is out of this world.
Did you ever belief that the Americans could even draw with Spain, talkless of an outright win. But they won yesterday, and the goals were not scrappy goals. The played well and fully deserve their place in the final of this year's confederations cup against............?
Wait a minute, are we going to see another shocker tonight when Brazil face host South Africa. Its something i will like to see happen being an African myself, but can that happen.
The South Africans played very well against the Spaniards but could not just score. They have a very blunt attack that have failed to convert their chances. Piennar played very well on the particular night, and if he has a good game tonight, then the Brazilians are in for one rough night.

What Happened To Egypt Against USA?

Hi guys, how are you enjoying the confederations cup currently holding in South Africa.
For me, its a bit of an anti-climax seeing Egypt bundled out by unfancied USA. I enjoyed seeing the Egyptians play their first 2 matches, but the last match against the Americans, i don't know what happened. They only needed a draw, but how did they end up losing by 3 goals. Even a lone goal defeat would still have been enough to see them through.
Well, i guess in football, as in every other sport, the more hungrier team wins.
Now we have the semi-final starting tomorrow, can the host get past Brazil or will USA upset Spain?
What do you think?

Tevez Finally Departs Man Utd

Manchester United have confirmed that Carlos Tevez is leaving the club.

United were willing to pay the £25.5m to turn the striker's two-year loan move into a permanent five-year deal but Tevez, 25, has decided to move on.

Personally i think he has made the right decision following from how Man Utd dragged the whole issue. I am a Man Utd fan, but i don't like the way Tevez was treated.

He has done very well for the club and if he has decided to go, then i fully respect his decision.

Has Africa Come Of Age?

That Egypt has beaten Italy in the ongoing confederations cup in South Africa is no longer news, what remains news for me is the way and manner in which the the Pharoahs played the match. In their first match with the Brazilians, they were far better than the Celecao for most of the game, only to be undone by a wicked penalty call.
I know people will be wandering why i am raving about the Egyptians like this. Well, in Africa, we only expect countries like Nigeria, Cameroun, The Ivorians to come up with such pretty eye catching football, but after what i have seen of the Pharoahs, i think i can now say that African teams will give a very good account of themselves when the mundial opens in South Africa next year.
